French military mission to Japan

The French Military Mission to Japan of 1867-68 was one of the main outside military preparing missions to Japan. The mission was shaped by NapolĂ©on III, after a demand of the Japanese Shogunate in the individual of its emissary to Europe, Shibata Takenaka (1823–1877).

Shibata was at that point arranging the last subtle elements of the French support for the development of the Yokosuka Shipyard, and had moreover asked for both the United Kingdom and France to send a military mission for preparing in Western fighting.
